Read how this small pet shelter supported by the big hearted citizens and meager donations of their equally small community ~ are literally turning our nationally antiquated and inhumane sheltering system on its ‘fluffy wagging tail!’ Aside from medically treating its rescued animals, the shelter updates their shots, spays or neuters, feeds hungry bellies, provides warm beds, lots of hugs and kisses and of course they must attend to the fun duties of general kennel maintenance. But that’s not all they do…
- Once a week they take the pets to visit local senior citizens. A moving and must see video that encapsulates the weekly shared love fest between these two veterans of hardships and survival.
- They spay/neuter all pets in the county for free. Including; feral populations! (Hurray! Do the happy dance!! This goes to the source of all shelter problems.)
- They house pets of abused women who will not leave their equally abused pets behind. Wow. This one is pulling tight on my heart strings. It’s something I would have never thought about, until now. A noble cause indeed.
- Oh, one more thing. Did I mention Wood River Valley is a NO-KILL SHELTER! That’s Right! Pets go in, and then yes, they come back out ‘alive’. What a concept! And get this~ they are healthy, happy and adopted to loving homes who actually want them!
